HOW IMPORTANT THE NATIONAL EXAMINATION FOR YOU ?

            Let’s prays thanksgiving to God Almighty, we say sholawat and salam to the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

            Good morning ladies and gentlemen.

            Let me introduce my self, my name is Adhil Rissallah, I come from Migas Vocational School. In this occasion, I would like to talk about “How Important The National Examination For You”. National Exam is the last step to continue their study to a higher school or college. In the world, there are countries which do not hold the National Exam, such as Finland, Canada and Germany. Why they do not hold the National Exam? In Canada there is no National Exam, but they can control the quality of education by an institution. In Germany, there is no National Exam but the government help each student to develop optimally. Because they think the National Exam is not important, the important to help every students develop optimally.

            Finland is as the country most successfully manage its national education number 1 in the world. In Finland, each student is given special autonomy to determine the schedule of exams for subjects they have mastered. National failure rate in Finland is never more than 2 percent per year. Finland didn’t do midterms and semester exams, it’s different in Indonesia. National evaluation study in Finland carried out without government intervention though. Because in every school, teacher even plenipotentiary to develop its own curriculum. It's incredible.

            National Exam in Indonesia has held since 1984/85, with different terms and different systems as well. This year the National Exam is held in 20 packets using the barcode, it is intended to minimize fraud and leakage. However, with an increasing complex system, it’s not followed by National Exam smoothness. For example : answer sheets are thin, and lack question paper. Many people complain about these problems. One of the students in Jakarta, said "answer sheet is very thin like tissue. When deleting we must be careful so the answer sheet is not rip, beside that after being removed, missing font a b c d". Many students face National Exam felt mediocre, but some students thought that the National Exam is a terrible monster. Not only few students who fainted when they received a question paper, even though they had not read it yet.

            Most students are afraid to face the National Exam. It makes the students to cheat, such as buying the answer keys, and believed to SMS broadcast. I read in okezone.com, that a high school student in Surabaya, East Java, doing National Exam by using the answer keys. He said "the answer keys was outstanding morning before the exam". I think it's highly unlikely, because the question using barcode, how to match it? But he said "the answer keys was synonymous with questions that I worked". It was absurd. Many students who are smart but they don’t pass it because of a pencil or technical errors. And many students who are stupid get high marks because they are lucky or cheat.

            So how is the government's attitude toward the National Exam in this year which is very messy? Is the National Exam removed or not? Many people want to the National Exam better removed, but the government will still held the National Exam. I think the National Exam is not important, because, in the countries which there are no National Exam, become the developed countries. While in Indonesia, every years Indonesia held the National Exam but the quality of education in Indonesia is not increase significant. I think the National Exam is not a benchmark but the draw even of fate. For the government, every years do not only increase the level of difficult questions but improve the quality of education in Indonesia in order to compete with the developed countries don’t use National Exam. National Exam is not important but the important thing is the expertise of each individual.
